Prayer is a big part of how we serve our city!
We regularly pray for our spaces, our programs, our staff, and those we serve. We also pray for justice in our communities and in the communities of the world. At each of our locations, you will find a Prayer Request box so that individuals are empowered to also bring their joy and needs to God.
Listed here are a few prayers to guide you should you wish to join us in prayer.
A prayer for those we serve
God, thank you for the privilege of caring for others in our community. Please meet each one in their needs and guide their paths to the right help and support. May all be greeted and supported with your welcoming love. You know each by their name and love them as you created them. May we also see each individual we encounter with that love, and seek to get to know them and value them as you do. Give each one your protection, your peace, and your hope. We pray for healing, guidance, and transformation.
A prayer for our team
God, thank you for each employee that you have brought to The Salvation Army Community Services (Calgary) in service of our community. May each one know, that as they invest their time, energy, and skills, extending their presence to support and encourage, they are empowering those they serve. Keep each one safe and bring your peace to difficult situations. Help staff to make wise, discerning, and compassionate decisions as they do your good work. Allow the skills, abilities, and creativity of each to be used to the fullest. Bless those who greet, who clean, who distribute, who administer, who lead, who feed, who encourage, who teach, and who care.
God, thank you for volunteers. Thank you for prompting them to generously share their talents and time. Keep them safe and help their service to be rewarding as they enrich the lives of others.

A prayer for our spaces
God, thank you for your provision of our buildings and the other resources that we need to serve our community. Bless all our generous neighbours who help supply these resources. Please help our spaces to be safe and welcoming places of hope for all. For all who help maintain our spaces, we pray your protection and wisdom and thank you for their faithful service.
A prayer for justice
God, provide your protection over our community and especially for all those who feel the burden of injustice. Prompt each of us to model your generosity of love and kindness. God, be a source of wisdom for all who develop and implement policies. May our leaders become champions for safe and secure communities for all. May The Salvation Army empower, encourage and support those who work for justice in our world.
A prayer for The Salvation Army
God, thank you for generous donors who support their community by supporting the work of The Salvation Army and we ask for your continued provision. Help all representatives of The Salvation Army to demonstrate daily its values of hope, service, dignity, and stewardship in all that they do. May leadership seek your wisdom and guidance and act with your love. We thank you for the blessing of being a global church and how international connections strengthen our many communities.
